What’s Next

Resources, community links, and next steps for Simply Readable

What's Next

Simply Readable was built by Swindon Borough Council and is now adopted by councils across the UK and internationally. Here are resources to help you take the next step.

The people behind it

Simply Readable was developed by Swindon Borough Council's Emerging Technology team, led by Sarah Pena (Head of Emerging Technology) under Philip Murkin (Chief Digital Officer). The Easy Read feature was co-created with the council's "Experts by Experience of a Learning Disability" focus group — residents with learning disabilities who tested and shaped every aspect of the tool.

The tool is now adopted by Edinburgh, Newport, Southampton, West Berkshire, and councils in France. It has been recognised by AWS, i.AI, Socitm, Digital Leaders, and the Local Government Association.
