Dynamic Council Generation

Understand how each deployment creates a unique fictional UK council with AI-generated identity, content, and images.

Expected outcome

  • You understand how council identity is generated
  • You know how content is tailored to match the council
  • You've spotted local flavour in the generated content

What is dynamic council generation?

Every time the LocalGov Drupal scenario is deployed, AI creates a completely unique fictional council. This includes:

  • A unique council identity - name, region, theme, and population size
  • Tailored content - 140+ pages of realistic council content
  • Custom images - hero images, councillor headshots, and location photos

No two deployments are the same. Your council might be a coastal tourism destination in Cornwall, an industrial heritage town in Yorkshire, or a market town in the Midlands.

Why fictional councils? Using AI-generated fictional councils avoids confusion with real local authorities while demonstrating realistic content patterns and AI capabilities.

Council identity

The AI generates a unique council identity with five key components:

Council Name

A realistic but fictional name combining a placename with council type.

Example: Thornbridge District Council

Region

One of 12 UK regions, influencing local references throughout content.

Regions: North East, North West, Yorkshire, East Midlands, West Midlands, East of England, London, South East, South West, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland

Theme/Character

A defining characteristic that shapes content and imagery.

Examples: Coastal tourism, industrial heritage, market town, university town, historic city, rural district

Population

A population range that influences service scale references.

Ranges: Small (under 50k), Medium (50-150k), Large (over 150k)

Flavour Keywords

Local terms woven into content for authenticity.

Example: For coastal: harbour, fishing, tourism, beach, maritime

Content generation

The AI generates approximately 140 pages of content across LocalGov Drupal content types:

Content Type Quantity Examples
Service Pages 15-20 Waste & Recycling, Planning, Council Tax
Guide Pages 5-8 How to apply for planning permission
Directory Entries 10-15 Council offices, community centres
News Articles 5 Recent announcements and updates
Homepage 1 Welcome and navigation

How local flavour appears

Content templates inject the council's identity throughout. Here's how the same service page differs based on council theme:

Coastal Council

"Thornbridge District Council operates a beach and coastal area recycling programme. Blue bins are collected weekly in the harbour area, with additional collections during the tourist season..."

Industrial Heritage Council

"Millford Borough Council provides comprehensive recycling services across our former mining communities. Blue bins are collected weekly, with the recycling centre located at the old colliery site..."

Image generation

Images are generated to match the council's theme and region. The system creates:

Hero Images

Large banner images for section landing pages, showing landscapes and townscapes matching the council's character.

~25 images

Councillor Headshots

Professional headshots representing diverse council members typical of UK local government.

~8 images

Location Photos

Photos of buildings, facilities, and local landmarks for directory entries and service pages.

~12 images

Theme matching

Image prompts incorporate the council's theme and region:

  • Coastal councils - harbour views, beach scenes, fishing boats, sea views
  • Industrial heritage - converted mills, former colliery sites, brick architecture
  • Market towns - high streets, market squares, stone buildings, countryside
  • University towns - historic buildings, student areas, cultural venues

Try this: discovery prompts

Explore your generated council and notice how the AI has customised everything:

Spot the theme in service pages

Beginner

Navigate to the Waste & Recycling service page and read the content carefully.

What to look for: References to your council's theme. Coastal councils mention beach clean-ups and harbour area collections. Industrial heritage councils reference former industrial sites.

Compare hero images across sections

Intermediate

Visit three different service page landing sections and compare the hero images at the top of each.

What to look for: Consistent visual theme across all images. Coastal councils show sea views and harbours. Rural councils show countryside and villages.
